Kochi: The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has looked for a move to create an action taken report (ATR) from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on steps taken to check dust contamination amid the development of Metro rail.
KMRL authorities said that they had gotten the letter from Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on measures that should be executed to bring contamination under control. “We will accept a call after we get the ATR. Taking into account that, we will choose on the off chance that we have to do anything else,” KMRL representative said.
Since the development work is being executed by the focal agency, they have taken measures to guarantee that contamination levels are under control, the authority said.
The organization will investigate PCB’s recommendation to set up a computerized checking framework that will record the contamination level.
In the mean time, DMRC authorities said that little scale heaping was going ahead at Palarivattom and the SA Road stretch. “The wetting is being done no less than three times each day on the whole extend. Flotsam and jetsam has been cleared in a few extends,” a DMRC official said.
The development of sub-structure on the Aluva-MG Road stretch is verging on over and the continuous work does not bring about much tidy contamination. “DMRC is exceptionally aware of its social obligation and we are checking contractual workers who are acquainted with our work society,” he said.
The Metro work has now proceeded onward to Vyttila stretch. “We will hand over the stretch till Palarivattom by August,” he included.
The respirable suspended particulate matter (RSPM) has ascended on MG Road, Ernakulam south, Vyttila and Irumpanam in the course of the last couple of years, according to information from four checking stations. Because of dissensions from the overall population, the KSPCB has requested that Metro offices find a way to decrease dust contamination and clear development flotsam and jetsam.
